I enjoyed your post. Sorta reminds me of my meandering experience with professional life. Financially I would be much better off if I had stayed working as a software developer for a large government contractor. But I hated every day of it. I really enjoy what I do now and happiness and personal fulfillment can't be purchased.

This is so very true. I wish that everyone could experience a work enviroment that involves customer service. It certainly helped me to learn patience at a young age. I was often that person on the recieving end of an argument in which I had no control. I still struggle with this of course, but don't we all. This is a good reminder for me to check myself when I'm out Christmas shopping amongst the masses this year.

I've come to the belief that God isn't anything that decides anything or plans anything. Instead it is the most powerful positive force in every living thing. There is a reason why doing something good feels good...and that reason is God.

I read somewhere that Joe Satriani once referred to Edge as the perfect guitar player. I actually think U2 fits so well together as a band that they could be classified similarly to the Stones, or the Fab Four.
Yes, I may be taking this to an extreme, but when you're extremely relevant musically for over 3 decades something really good is going on.

The government funding of arts programs is a minimal portion of the budget. You can gut every arts program there is and not balance the budget. When the government supports the arts, it is NOT the artists that have no commercial/public following. If it were so, then I would be an NEA Jazz Master. It is to conserve and curate that art. The problem is that artists TEND to be liberal (not always) and they are a easy target for the conservatives currently in power. But the conservatives won't last. Then the liberals won't last. So we have a ready-made political football that will keep both parties occupied and not working on any REAL problems the country faces.
